What's the big deal about Fantasy Football?
Fantasy Football has become a cultural phenomenon. It is basically a "sport" that lets fans draft their own players to make a team, and compete against other players using the real football players' statistics. On the surface, it is easy to oversimplify, but America's corporations know better.
According to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, there are between 15 and 18 million fantasy sports players in the US alone. About 85% of that number play fantasy football. Larger companies are taking notice, specifically because it is a very loyal market with predominately male, married, and in a high-income bracket. With fantasy football being a multi-million dollar industry, the popularity among businesses and fans is only increasing.
So what's the big deal? It's fun, it's free to the casual fan, it's growing, and it's very lucrative for large businesses. That is why you hear about fantasy football every time you turn around, and that's why you will probably end up becoming a fan yourself!
